A very important part of all creative work is the constant search for challenges. When you get out of your comfort zone you always find new ideas and new ways of working.
One of the defining details of Happy Together’s work is certainly the time of the year when the majority of our labour is done. Summer. Long and hot days, plenty of sunshine and many afternoons with that gorgeous golden light.One of the challenges we always wanted for us was to film during harsh winter. We wanted the experience of filming with cold, snow, small days and darkness.

Gisa and Jorge decided to get married in Portugal and they live in Helsinki, Finland. In the first meeting we had with them they talked about having a film to show their Brazilian and Portuguese families the city they chose to call home.
They wanted to show the harshness of winter, the house were they live, Söpö (their super cute cat) and how it is to live in a cold Capital of the north of Europe.

We accepted the challenge and in January we travelled to Helsinki to meet Gisa and Jorge. On the day we arrived the temperature was -20ºC. On the second day it was -26ºC! Really really cold and a lot of snow. Gisa and Jorge welcomed us as we were family and gave us all we could ask for and more.

There were many memorable moments on this trip, but 2 were definitely special. The boat trip we all made to Suomenlinna through the completely frozen sea and the day we spent in Poorvo.
Poorvo is a small city 50 minutes away from Helsinki. It’s famous for the typical red houses with swedish influence near the river. Throughout the day we spent in Porvoo filming with Gisa and Jorge, snow fell heavily.
From our walk over the frozen river to the forest near Poorvo, everything was snow and ice.

Crossing the frozen sea on a boat trip, walking over the frozen river, snow angels, wearing two pairs of gloves and still having our hands freezing cold, surviving -26ºC, visiting Poorvo on a heavy snow day… We will always have Poorvo and Helsinki has one of our best experiences. Always.

Uma parte muito importante de todo o trabalho criativo é a constante procura por desafios. Ao sair da nossa zona de conforto encontramos sempre novas ideias. Novas formas de melhorar o nosso trabalho.
Uma das características do trabalho da Happy Together é sem dúvida a época do ano em que a generalidade do nosso trabalho é feito. O Verão. Dias longos e quentes, muito sol e muitos fins de tarde com luz dourada.
Um dos desafios que sempre quisemos para nós foi o extremo oposto das estações, o Inverno. Queríamos a experiência de trabalhar com frio, neve e dias curtos e escuros.

A Gisa e o Jorge decidiram casar em Portugal e moram em Helsínquia na Finlândia. Na primeira reunião que tivemos disseram-nos que gostavam de ter um filme para mostrar às suas famílias, brasileira e portuguesa, como é a cidade a que chamam casa. Queriam mostrar o rigor do inverno, a casa onde moram, o Söpö (o gato super fofo deles) e como é viver numa cidade fria do norte da Europa.

Aceitámos o desafio e em Janeiro viajámos para Helsínquia ao encontro da Gisa e do Jorge. No dia em que chegámos estavam -20ºC. No segundo dia estavam -26ºC! Muito muito frio e muita neve. A Gisa e o Jorge receberam-nos como se fossemos família e deram-nos tudo o que podíamos desejar e muito mais.

Houve muitos momentos memoráveis nesta viagem, mas 2 foram sem dúvida especiais. O trajecto de barco até Suomenlinna em que atravessámos o mar completamente congelado e sem dúvida o dia que passámos em Poorvo.
Poorvo é uma pequena cidade a 50 minutos de Helsínquia. É conhecida pelas típicas casas vermelhas de influência sueca à beira rio. Durante todo o dia que passámos em Poorvo a filmar com a Gisa e o Jorge, a neve caiu intensamente. Desde a caminhada no rio congelado até à floresta junto a Poorvo, tudo era neve e gelo.

Vejam o filme para conhecerem um pouco deste casal tão especial e para verem a beleza de Helsínquia e Poorvo no pico do Inverno.
Atravessar o mar congelado de barco, caminhar sobre o rio congelado, cair de costas na neve, usar 2 pares de luvas e mesmo assim ficar com as mãos geladas, sobreviver a -26ºC, visitar Poorvo num dia de neve intensa… Vamos sempre ter Poorvo e Helsínquia como uma das nossas melhores experiências. Sempre.
